Hello everyone! I’m Alayah, also known as Lay in the salon! Just wanted to pop in and tell you all about myself!

I have been in this lovely curly community for the last 6+ years and I fully embraced my curly hair as soon as I graduated cosmetology school from Aveda Fredricks Institute in 2019! While in school I shadowed Britteny for a few months before joining her the day after I graduated.

Since beginning with Kurlykoils in February of 2019, I have been certified with Curly Hair Artistry , Cut It Kinky Mastery, as well as an Innersense Cut and Color educator. I have also taught all over the country for salons to learn new color and cutting techniques. I’ve always believed continuously educating yourself in the hair industry is super important to understanding your client and what the community is doing and seeing.

To tell you a little bit about my personal life! I am a pet parent! I have two dogs and a cat. I grew up biracial and having both my parents confused with my hair type as well as my sisters, so I completely understand not knowing what to do with your hair! That’s why I think it’s important to educate the consumer on how to care for their curls! I am blessed to work in a community where everyone is accepted regardless of curl type.
